Bus goes up in flames in UP’s Hathras, driver, passengers jump to safety

Passengers narrowly escaped after a private passenger bus going from Delhi to Bihar caught fire on the Yamuna Expressway near Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras on Sunday evening. No casualties were reported due to the incident, which took place near Midhawali village in Hathras.
According to the police, the bus, going from Delhi’s Wazirabad to Bihar’s Supaul, caught fire at around 8 pm on Sunday.

Although the exact cause of the fire is not known, police suspect that the fire started from the luggage kept on the roof of the bus.
After the passengers saw the flames rising from the bus, there was a stampede-like situation. The driver stopped the bus, following which the passengers got off the bus.
Police and personnel from the fire department rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. However, the entire bus was damaged by that time.
Traffic on the Yamuna Expressway was disrupted for some time due to the fire.
